What is Cerused?

The perfect blend of texture and contrast, Cerused wood can be traced back to the 16th century, during the Renaissance period and Europe. The term “ceruse” refers to the white pigment historically used in cosmetics, but then became a popular material to enhance carved designs and the grain of oak wood, commonly used in furniture and interiors at the time.

Create Your Look

We developed a white wash Cerused material with warm undertones, then selected four stains offering a range of colors. We meticulously apply the white wash material, highlighting the wood’s grain patterns. This results in a beautiful, organic effect between the light and dark tones. Signature Cerused is offered on three highly-grained woods chosen for their natural character and beauty:

  • Red Oak
  • Quarter Sawn White Oak
  • Rift Cut White Oak

For more striking contrast, you can choose to have your cabinets wire brushed. This technique adds deep texture to the wood allowing for more Cerused material to be left in the grain.
